The strategic agreement between Thomas Cook and Expedia will enable new customer opportunities for both companies. As announced by Thomas Cook, the multi-year partnership with Expedia, one of the biggest travel companies worldwide, will provide travelers with more destinations to choose from when planning their holidays.
With the latest agreement, Expedia will contribute to the expansion of Thomas Cook’s business opportunities by supporting the European sales with its large range of available hotel and city-break offers, as its booking platform will directly supply more than 60.000 accommodation facilities.
By doing so, Thomas Cook will be able to provide its customers with wider holiday options, at lower costs.
“The combination of Expedia’s portfolio of hotels and best-in-class online technology will transform Thomas Cook’s city breaks and hotel-only offer for customers while helping the business take an important step forward in delivering our strategy for profitable growth. Joining forces with a company that has the global reach and expertise of Expedia will allow Thomas Cook to further simplify our systems and processes. At the same time, this will free us up to focus on holidays to our own-brand and selected partner hotels in sun & beach locations where we know we can really make a difference to customers. I am confident this marks the first step in a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship with Expedia,” declared Thomas Cook’s CEO, Peter Fankhauser.
On the other hand, Expedia will use its industry experience and technology to deliver best bookings through all of Thomas Cook’s marketing channels. This way, the company will increase its visibility and distribution reach.

The latest deal is part of the new Thomas Cook Group’s strategic expansion programme and follows the 2016 agreement with Webjet Limited. More alliances are expected in the near future for the company operating across the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
