Parents striving to tear their offspring away from screens and electronic devices could find a solution at the Grafton Beach Resort in Tobago in the form of good old fashioned board games.
The family friendly resort is providing games such as Twister, Snakes and Ladders, Pictionary and Uno as well as jigsaw puzzles, chess and backgammon that the whole family can enjoy together. It is hoped that the games will generate friendly competition between parents and children and create happy memories.
Grafton Beach Resort is an ideal base for families with all 106 rooms able to accommodate two adults and two children. For families who would like more space there are 37 interconnecting rooms.
Elsewhere in the resort, there is the freshwater Kidz Pool with a non-alcoholic bar, a games room with table tennis and pool table, and squash courts. Guests also have use of the tennis courts at Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort which is just next door.
The resort is set in 5 acres on a gently sloping hillside overlooking Stonehaven Beach on the Caribbean side of Tobago.
The sandy half mile long beach is perfect for swimming and snorkelling. Between March and September children may be lucky enough to see turtles coming ashore to lay their eggs or see the hatchlings heading to the sea. A local charity offers a turtle adoption programme that includes an update on the turtle’s progress at the end of the season.
There is also an on site dive shop offering a bubblemaker scuba programme for children aged 8-10 years as well as a range of snorkelling excursions.
Tobago has plenty that will appeal to children such as feeding colourful tropical birds, exploring lush rainforest, visiting a cocoa estate that produces delicious chocolate, boat trips to see coral reefs or exploring the island’s water ways on stand-up paddle boards.
The hotel offers babysitting services if parents want to have a night out alone.
