Fife Golf Trails

We are very proud to have St Andrews, the Home of Golf, as part of the world famous golf experience we have to offer in Fife. In addition to St Andrews courses, we also have a wonderful variety of other courses that suit all tastes and budgets. Why not try Lundin Ladies Golf Course, the oldest independent ladies club in the world or enjoy the spectacular panoramas across the Firth of Forth at Burntisland Golf Club?

Fife also boasts a nine-hole hickory course – Kingarrock Golf Club – located in the grounds of the historic Hill of Tarvit Mansion house and gardens. There you can play the game as it was played over 150 years ago, using original hickory clubs and a replica golf ball from 1860!

If you need some help when deciding on your golf experience, the Fife Golf Trails brochure highlights seven Fife trails including the Golf Gourmet Trail and Hidden Treasure Trail. Find out more at www.visitfifegolf.com

Alfred Dunhill Links Championship

The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship takes place in October every year and allows fans to not only see some of the very best players in the world, but also some of the most famous celebrities. The format is different from a normal tour event, where a professional and celebrity join forces to take on the world famous Old Course, Kingsbarns and Carnoustie championship courses. This allows for an informal atmosphere where fans have the opportunity to be close to the players and also have the chance for a ‘selfie’ with their favourite celebs!

The professionals taking part in recent years include numerous Major Champions, such as Ernie Else, Martin Kaymer, Danny Willet, John Daly and Rory McIlroy who have teamed up with famous names such as Hugh Grant, Michael Douglas, Samuel L Jackson, Sir Bobby Charlton and Boris Becker taking to the fairways. I’m sure you’ll agree this is an event not to be missed!

Sally Watson

Fife Ambassador & Pro Golfer

“I first learned how to play golf as a little girl at the Elie Sports Club. My family and I always used to come through to Fife for our summer holidays (until we moved here full time) and playing golf was just one of the many fun activities that were on offer. The great thing about golf in Fife is that not only are there a lot of fantastic golf courses to play but there are plenty of opportunities to watch the professionals compete, either at the Dunhill Links Championship or The Open/Ricoh Women’s Open. I remember as a little girl watching Tiger win the 2000 Open Championship and then Jack Nicklaus saying goodbye to The Open in 2005. Having the opportunity to watch moments that will forever be remembered in golfing history was truly inspiring and was a big influence behind me wanting to play professional golf. Wherever I am in the world I will always be proud to call Fife home.”
