The British Golf Museum St Andrews – Home to Golf’s History

The 5 star British Golf Museum brings to life the full history of the great game. The story told in the Museum begins in the middle ages and sweeps through to the modern game and The Open Championship. At the end of the Museum there is a chance to putt with replica clubs and balls from the last 180 years and to dress up in period golf costume.

Several of the galleries have been re-designed, introducing a more contemporary feel and interactive focus. In 2016, the Year of Architecture, Innovation and Design, our new temporary exhibition space will showcase a special exhibition on the changes over the years to the iconic Royal and Ancient Golf Club.

The Museum caters for all age groups and entry tickets, valid for two days, include a guidebook to the Museum and, for children, a special gift pack and trail.

Shop at the Museum

The Museum Shop offers an exclusive shopping experience to visitors coming to St Andrews. The Shop now stocks official Open merchandise year round and is the only store where visitors can buy this iconic product outside of the week of The Open Championship.

There is also a great selection of other official golf gifts and authentic Scottish products, such as a range of Harris Tweed accessories and locally-sourced Scottish food. General gifts and souvenirs are on offer too from books and toys to postcards and small mementos, there is something for every taste and budget.

Café at the Museum

With panoramic views, taking in the 1st tee of the Old Course and West Sands beach, the Café at the Museum offers locally-sourced produce and a Scottish menu.

The Café is quickly gaining a reputation for its friendly service and superb atmosphere. The Café serves delicious Afternoon Teas, and a menu of traditional Scottish dishes, as well as a delicious Sunday Roast.

The 5 star British Golf Museum is a must-visit attraction in Scotland. It is the only place in Europe to see the full history of golf from where the game was born. We pride ourselves on offering the best of Scottish hospitality to ensure our visitors have an exceptional experience of St Andrews. We look forward to seeing you here.
